PSL 2022: Huge boost for Islamabad United, Paul Stirling tests negative, could face off against Lahore Qalandars in Eliminator
Islamabad United confirmed that Paul Stirling will be available for selection for their game against the Lahore Qalandars on Friday after the Irish opener tested negative for COVID-19. The return is facilitated by PCB’s amendment to the health and safety protocols, with Alex Hales also returning in Islamabad’s win over Peshawar Zalmi on Thursday.
Stirling played the first five games of the PSL for United before leaving for international duty with Ireland. The dashing opener took part in a T20 quadrangular series in Oman and then in the T20 World Cup qualifiers which helped Ireland qualify for the World Cup in Australia later this year.

While his returns in Oman dwindled, Stirling was in top form for Islamabad, averaging 37.40 with a strike rate of 181.55. He formed a destructive opening partnership with Alex Hales, and the duo will be reunited once again on Friday.
Before the amendment to the protocols, agreed upon by all franchises, anyone arriving from outside Pakistan would have had to quarantine for three days before being allowed to play.
