Mitchell Josef Santner, born on February 5, 1992, is a versatile New Zealand cricketer, representing his country in all formats of the game. He primarily plays for the Northern Districts cricket team domestically. Santner is known as a bowling all-rounder, batting left-handed and bowling slow left-arm orthodox spin. He holds the record for being part of New Zealand’s highest 7th wicket partnership in Tests. Apart from cricket, he also enjoys playing golf occasionally.

Santner’s rise to the New Zealand team came after an impressive 2014-15 domestic season. Following Daniel Vettori’s retirement after the 2015 World Cup, Santner was included in the one-day squad for the England tour, adding a left-arm spin option. His immediate impact was evident when he replaced IPL-bound players during the England tour, notably scoring 94 against Somerset.

International career 

In April 2015, Santner debuted for New Zealand in ODIs and T20Is, impressing with both bat and ball.
