Domestic career 

Khaleel Khursheed Ahmed’s cricketing journey began with his Twenty20 debut for Rajasthan during the 2016–17 Inter State Twenty-20 Tournament on February 5, 2017. Prior to this milestone, he had represented India in the 2016 Under-19 Cricket World Cup. His introduction to first-class cricket came with Rajasthan in the 2017–18 Ranji Trophy on October 6, 2017.

In January 2018, Sunrisers Hyderabad secured his services in the 2018 IPL auction, acquiring him for Rs. 3 crores. Continuing his progression, Khaleel made his List A debut for Rajasthan in the 2017–18 Vijay Hazare Trophy on February 5, 2018. His journey in the IPL saw another turn in February 2022 when the Delhi Capitals purchased him in the auction for the 2022 Indian Premier League tournament.

IPL Career 

Khaleel Ahmed, known for his left-arm medium-pace bowling, has shown promise in youth cricket. However, he is yet to consistently meet expectations in both international cricket and the IPL, despite occasional impressive performances. Initially joining the Delhi Capitals for the 2016 IPL season, he later moved to Sunrisers Hyderabad and has remained with the team since.

In 2019, he had a notable season, claiming 19 wickets, which included a memorable 3-wicket haul and a distinctive celebration style. Now, three years later, he rejoins the Delhi Capitals after being acquired for INR 5.25 Crore.

International career 

In September 2018, he earned a spot in India’s One Day International (ODI) squad for the 2018 Asia Cup. His ODI debut for India took place against Hong Kong on September 18, 2018. Following this, in October 2018, he was selected for India’s Twenty20 International (T20I) squad for their series against the West Indies. His T20I debut for India occurred on November 4, 2018, against the West Indies.

ODI Career 

In the period spanning 2018 to 2019, Khaleel Ahmed participated in 11 One Day International (ODI) matches. Throughout these matches, he delivered a total of 80 overs, managing to restrict his opponents with just 2 maidens. Khaleel’s father, Khursheed Ahmed, worked as a nurse in a village near the small town of Tonk. Despite his parents’ wish for him to pursue a career in medicine, they were initially hesitant to allow him to enrol in a cricket academy.
