Injured Shardul Thakur makes way for new star Shivam Dube in Mumbai Ranji team

Ranji Trophy: Shivam Dube has impressed in his comeback first-class season as well, having performed with the bats and the ball.

With two wins in two matches in the ongoing Ranji Trophy 2024, giants Mumbai face Kerala in the third round starting January 19, in Thiruvananthapuram. But the team faces a slight challenge ahead of the encounter as star India all-rounder Shardul Thakur, who plies his trade for Mumbai, has been ruled out for two weeks, due to an ankle injury.

In fact, Shardul had sustained the injury during the South Africa Test series, where he played the first match in Centurion, but failed to leave a mark, as he picked up only one wickets, and didn’t do enough with the bat.

“He has informed the MCA that he will take two more weeks to recover,” Ajinkya Naik, the Mumbai Cricket Association secretary, told Sportstar. “We are also waiting for an official communication from the NCA (National Cricket Academy).”

Apart from that, Sheryas Iyer has been left out of the squad as well, as he is in the Test team for the upcoming Test series against England. starting in a few days from now. Meanwhile, another all-rounder, Shivam Dube has made his way back into the Mumbai squad now — Shivam Dube, who impressed with his performances in the India vs Afghanistan T20I series.
