India Cricket Team: Head coach Rahul Dravid and the team management are growing increasingly worried about the spate of injuries to Indian stars as they prepare for two World Cup campaigns in the next 18 months. With the likes of Deepak Chahar, Ravindra Jadeja and Hardik Pandya all having suffered injuries in the near past, the BCCI have decided to transfer team physio Nitin Patel to the NCA in a bid to aid the rehabilitation of more than 10 injury-plagued stars. The Men in Blue will now look for a new physio to take over Patel’s role with the team, with Yogesh Parmar retaining his spot with the side.

As per Cricbuzz, Nitin Patel is all set to be appointed as the new Head of Sports Science and Medicine at the NCA as BCCI look to cut down a slew of injuries to their stars. The BCCI will now look to hire Patel’s replacement with Yogesh Parmar being the only other physio with the side.
The suggestion to transfer Patel came from Dravid himself as the team management look to manage workloads and have a large pool of players available for the two upcoming World Cups. Patel’s move is likely to happen after the India vs Sri Lanka series, as BCCI have invited applications for the physiotherapist position of the Indian team recently.
The Indian cricket board has also sought applications for the senior women’s team, senior physiotherapist at the NCA, and four more junior and assistant physios for the Bangalore Test against Sri Lanka.
A host of Indian stars have had to go to the NCA for rehab and in this context, the team management is believed to have felt that the experience and expertise of Patel could be the right option. Over the last 12 months, the likes of Hardik Pandya, Deepak Chahar, KL Rahul, Axar Patel, Shreyas Iyer, Ishant Sharma, Rohit Sharma and Suryakumar Yadav have all sought treatment at the NCA, making Patel’s appointment a strategic move by coach Rahul Dravid.
