Controversy in Paris Olympics continue. This time a commentator for Eurosport has faced flak. Bob Ballard has been strongly criticized and the sacked from commentary roster from Eurosport after his demeaning words during the women’s 4x100m freestyle relay gold match.
The incident took place in Paris Olympics during the women’s 4x100m freestyle relay gold match. The commentator Bob Ballard made distasteful comments after the Australia women’s swimmers clinched the gold medal in the rally category.
“Well, the women just finishing up. You know what women are like… hanging around, doing their make-up,” Ballard said on live air.
This sparked huge debate and controversy in social media. Ballard was spotted sharing a laugh after his spiteful comments while fellow commentator Lizzie Simmonds claimed it to be an outrageous comment.
After the incident Eurosport decided to release a statement where they confirmed that the commentator Bob Ballard has been removed from their roster with immediate effect.
“During a segment of Eurosport’s coverage last night, commentator Bob Ballard made an inappropriate comment. To that end, he has been removed from our commentary roster with immediate effect,” Eurosport said.
