Pakistan Cricket Team went on to lose the 3rd T20I game against a potential B team of New Zealand. The Kiwis convincingly won the game to level the series 1-1. But now questions are raised on the fitness and fatigue of the players, given that the ICC T20 World Cup is fast approaching.
Pakistan are currently playing a 5-match T20I series against the Black Caps to prepare for the ICC tournament. The Men in Green training rigorously at the Kakul Army camp prior to the series. Current head coach Azhar Mahmood claimed that the players are fatigued after such a strong regime.
Too Fatigued after Army Camp?
Azhar Mahmood also went on to address the injury concerns in the team. Azam Khan suffered a right calf muscle injury and thus was ruled out of this series. Ace batter and keeper Mohammad Rizwan has also suffered a niggle and is expected to miss the next match.
“The players worked very hard during the Kakul camp. There can be body fatigue as well. Rizwan had a niggle and with the World Cup ahead of us, we pulled him out, so that his injury doesn’t get aggravated. Irfan too was pulled out for the same reason, but Azam’s case was a setback for us,” Azhar Mahmood said after the game.
