After a lot of drama regarding timings, the much anticipated Kolkata Derby will take on 10th March at 8:30 PM. Keeping aside the ticket drama yet again, it is time for the Big Match.

Not just a high profile game, a lot of things are stake for both the teams. Mohun Bagan are keen to clinch a win to take the top spot of the ISL Points table. Ahead of the game, Bagan coach Antonio Lopez Habas laid down his plans to beat their arch rivals.

On the other hand, a win for East Bengal will keep the Red and Gold brigade alive in their pursuit of the top 6 spot. Carles Cuadrat confirmed that his side are the underdogs after a string of poor performances.

The Mariners boast of a strong squad. Furthermore a gap of 9 games has given the Green and Maroon to recover and train adequately for the game. Sahal Abdul Samad missed the previous game with the niggle. But the attacking midfielder is back to full fitness and will be keen to take a part in the game.

Ahead of the Big Match, all the Mohun Bagan players looked in lively spirit. The camp looked happy and determined to achieve 3 points at all costs. Deepak Tangri will be the only player to miss the match owing to suspension by yellow card accumulation.

“We are confident. But this is a totally different game, with different players and a different situation altogether. They are in a race to be in the top six, whereas we are fighting for the first place,” Mohun Bagan Super Giant head coach Antonio Lopez Habas said ahead of the game.

East Bengal Team News

East Bengal will play the derby with 6 foreigners, unlike what happened earlier in February. With no win against their arch rivals in ISL, the hosts will be desperate for revenge. However, this season, East Bengal leads the head-to-head battle 2-1 after wins in Durand Cup and Super Cup. For the hosts, Mohammed Rakip is slated to miss the game with suspension.

“My players are very motivated. It’s going to be a very good game. We have gotten very good results so far in the Kolkata derbies held this season,” East Bengal FC head coach Carles Cuadrat said in the pre-match press conference.
