It was only a few days back that India javelin ace Neeraj Chopra had opened up about his groin injury, and how it restricted his movement at the Paris Olympics. Despite that he went on to clinch the silver medal; but now as things stand, he will require a surgery. Having said that, Neeraj isn’t thinking about the surgery break already.
In fact, Neeraj Chopra is now bracing up for the next competition on the IAAF calendar — the Lausanne Diamond League, scheduled to take place on August 22. “I have finally decided to participate in the Lausanne Diamond League,” Neeraj said in a video interaction with the media, organised by JSW.
Neeraj Chopra’s First Competition Since Paris Olympics
With a massive throw of 89.45m, the 26-year-old brought home his second Olympics medal. He was pipped by Pakistani Arshad Nadeem, who threw over 92m in the final. “It is never easy to perform in the Olympics, especially when you are defending your medal…From there (second throw), I knew that I can breach the Olympic record but somehow I was not able to do as my body didn’t allow. I am happy that I won a silver medal for the country; but I will work on the things that are needed to recover well.”

Meanwhile, the Lausanne Diamond League will be his fourth competition of the year. He participated at the Doha Diamond League, followed by the Federations Cup, and the Paavo Nurmi Games.
